Description
This map was published in Tokyo as a souvenir for the English-speaking tourist market in the early days of the development post war tourism of the mid 1950s. It was originally issued as a folding pocket map, priced at 180 yen or 50 cents on the cover. The self-illustrated cover on the backside has a caricature of a tourist wearing a conical Asian straw hat, carrying a backpack and consulting a map while looking at a pagoda.
